In terms of feeding needs, donkeys are similarly easy keepers like many ponies, so we have designed a feed specifically for their needs. The following features characterize our new Donkey's Choice for donkeys, mules, and ponies! Grain- and Molasses-Free: Donkeys like to eat a lot but tend to quickly develop fat deposits. Since many pony breeds behave similarly, we have developed a new grain- and molasses-free feed with a correspondingly low energy content to keep digestion and metabolism balanced. Low Energy: By using de-molassed and low-glycemic ingredients, we have managed to create a feed with only 9% crude protein content. This helps prevent metabolic diseases and fat deposits, to which donkeys are particularly prone. Rich in Vital Nutrients: Flaxseed, brewer’s yeast, and rice bran are natural sources of trace elements such as zinc, copper, manganese, and iron, as well as essential amino acids like lysine and methionine and vitamins. Herb- and Fiber-Rich: This fiber-rich muesli (17.5% crude fiber content) is rounded off with herbs such as chamomile, thyme, hawthorn, milk thistle, and garlic. Hawthorn strengthens the heart and promotes circulation, while milk thistle supports the body’s natural detoxification processes. Garlic strengthens the immune system and metabolism and has the added benefit in summer of making equines unattractive to flies, mosquitoes, and other parasites due to sulfur-like emissions through the skin.
